A Moment Of Peace In A Rapidly Deteriorating World

A moment of peace in a rapidly deteriorating world. We all need it, but for some it feels like reaching for a life raft when you are about to go down for the last time. As for others, well, it may just be something that they only consider when they realise that it’s gone.

These thoughts crossed my mind as I walked last night.

It had been yet another beautiful day in what has become the driest and sunniest May ever in the UK. The sun was slowly slipping behind the trees and it felt calm and peaceful. No-one was around.

A sharp contrast to the news from across the world. Race riots in America, continuing deaths from corona virus and what feels like more and more people choosing to ignore Government guidelines and head to the beach. Lock down seems to have lost its way.

It feels as if everyone has had enough.

Enough of our hypocritical, elite government. Of lies from leaders across the world. Of institutional racism and the murder of innocent people by police officers. Enough of white privilege and being told what to do.

During turbulent times we all need an opportunity to reach out and find our moment of peace.

And hang onto it for as long as we can, before the world overwhelms us.
