A Victim Of Travel Guide Hype?

A Victim Of Travel Guide Hype?

Sometimes you get to visit a place for the first time and you find that, well, it’s not quite what you were hoping to find. A victim of travel guide hype, so to speak.

But how wonderful when your expectations are met. Or, dare I say it, even exceeded.

For as long as you can see past the crowds and the bulging overflow car parks then maybe, just maybe, you have an opportunity of achieving your hoped for outcome. Of seeing a place as it was or truly should be.

And we did.

Despite the inevitable post lock down, staycation crowds.

Despite the sad decline of local homes and the increase of commercial, tourist focused businesses.

And despite the heavy toll on the beautiful, cliff top footpaths from millions of tourists feet over the years.

We took a visit to Lulworth Cove for the first time this year and made the relatively short walk over the Jurassic Coast cliffs to Durdle Door and back.

And do you know what?

We were able to see beyond all of the distractions and see it for what it really is.

And that’s got to be a good thing.
